Restroom Trailer Rental FAQ – San Diego

Cost depends on four things: which trailer you need, how long you need it, how far it travels, and the date. A 2-station unit for a weekday corporate event prices differently than a 3-station for a Saturday in peak wedding season, and a Rancho Santa Fe delivery differs from one downtown. Delivery is included within 50 miles of downtown San Diego. Send your event date, location, and guest count and we’ll give you a firm number rather than a range that changes later.

As a general guide, a 2-station trailer suits events up to roughly 100 guests and a 3-station handles gatherings up to about 300. Event length matters as much as headcount — a six-hour reception with a bar puts far more demand on the restrooms than a two-hour ceremony — and events over 300 guests usually pair a trailer with standard units or add a second trailer. Tell us the guest count and how long the event runs and we’ll size it for you.

Usually yes for power, and it depends for water. The trailers run air conditioning, lighting, and a water heater, so plan on a dedicated standard outlet per station within about 100 feet — a 20-amp circuit per station is the safe assumption — or a quiet generator package, which we can supply. For water, a standard garden-hose connection within about 100 feet is ideal; for sites without a spigot, self-contained trailers with onboard fresh-water tanks are available. Tell us what your site has and we’ll confirm the exact requirements for the unit you’re booking before delivery.

Grass, dirt, gravel, pavers, asphalt, and concrete all work as long as the ground is firm and close to level. We level the trailer on its jacks at delivery, but the pad needs to be within a few inches of level across the trailer’s footprint, and soft, freshly watered lawn should be avoided. The other thing to check is access: a gate or side yard around 10–12 feet wide and roughly 14 feet of overhead clearance for the tow vehicle. Yes, on request. ADA-accessible restroom trailers and accessible portable units are available for events that need them — including permitted public events, which the City of San Diego requires to make at least 10% of restroom facilities accessible. Accessible units need a level pad and a firm, step-free route from the event area, so mention it when you book and we’ll plan the placement with you.

On your own private property, no — a backyard wedding, a home remodel, or a private venue doesn’t need a permit for the unit itself. On public property — a park, beach, street, or sidewalk — the restroom becomes part of a special event permit, and construction sites have a Cal/OSHA minimum of one toilet per 20 workers. Many venues, HOAs, and public event permits require one, and we can provide a certificate of insurance naming your venue as additional insured. Ask for it when you book — venues typically want it one to two weeks before the event, and it’s easier to have it on file early than to chase it the week of.

For wedding season, holiday weekends, and major event dates, book as early as you can — those dates go first and there are a finite number of trailers in the county. For most other events a few weeks of lead time is comfortable. If your date is close, ask anyway; availability shifts as plans change and checking costs nothing.

Yes. Delivery, setup, and pickup are included within 50 miles of downtown San Diego. Locations beyond that are quoted individually — distance doesn’t rule anything out.

Yes. Both the 2-station and 3-station trailers have air conditioning and heating. This matters more in San Diego than people expect: an inland August afternoon and a coastal evening reception in February are very different environments, and an uncomfortable restroom is the detail guests remember.

The 2-station is a compact two-room unit with separate men’s and women’s facilities — private lockable rooms, flushing porcelain toilets, hot and cold water, climate control, full-length mirrors, and wide stable entry stairs. It’s the right choice for venues where space is tight. Call us as soon as you know. Extensions on an existing rental are usually easy; date changes depend on availability, so the earlier we hear, the more options there are. There’s no penalty for asking.
